The Special Day

Why did you choose River Court Hotel for your wedding? 

"We went to view the River Court and when we met Sharon we knew straight away that this was the venue for us. The outside area is absolutely incredible and the view of the castle is so romantic. Any questions we had were always answered straight away and we felt part of the River Court family from the moment we set the date."

What were your favourite moments from the day?

"For us one of the best highlights was Noel saying a blessing for us before we ate the meal. All of the members of staff were so friendly and Emma Jane is an absolute pro working her magic and getting the most delicious food out to all of us. I couldn't stop smiling from the moment we stepped into the venue."

How did you find the ceremony, reception, food and overall experience?

"All of our guests commented on how amazing the food was and we were made feel so special at our menu tasting getting to try so many different options. The reception room is gorgeous and the outside area for the reception was so special. We got the most stunning pictures with our families and having Kilkenny Castle just a stones throw away for portraits was such a bonus."

Were there any funny, emotional or memorable moments that stand out?

"We got the most incredible evening pictures with the Castle in the background while the band was setting up. Another highlight for us was having our top table in and around our guests. Feeling the love from everyone and looking around at all of our nearest and dearest was so special."

Any special details, décor choices or personal touches you’d like to mention?

"One thing that made the day so special and personal for us was the fresh flowers on each table and the gorgeous spray of flowers at the top table made the place look so stunning. We brought all of our bits and pieces to the River Court the day before and everything was put out so beautifully on the day. It was literally seamless from beginning to end."

The Advice:

"Go and stay in your venue and get to know the staff. It will make the day so special and we now feel even more special every time we visit as people are so lovely and remember us. Think about what you would like your day to look like. What vibe and how you would like to achieve that. Chip away at little jobs throughout your engaged time so when it comes close to the wedding everything won't feel to overwhelming and you can soak in every moment."

Why did you choose Kilkenny River Court Hotel for your wedding?

"The Kilkenny River Court Hotel has always held a special place in my husband’s heart and his family’s as well."

What were your favourite moments from the day?

Our outdoor ceremony was incredibly special, with guests seated against the breathtaking backdrop of Kilkenny Castle, surrounded by beautiful gardens and floral displays.

How did you find the ceremony, reception, food and overall experience?

"After the ceremony, we were greeted with champagne and warm hugs from the staff. The food exceeded all our expectations. The whole day, we didn’t have to ask for anything, as everything happened naturally, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in each moment."

Were there any funny, emotional or memorable moments that stand out?

"There were a few funny moments throughout the day. The first happened right after James and I said ‘I do’. As we were walking back down the aisle through a beautiful archway, my veil got stuck! The hotel coordinators had to help free me, and we all ended up laughing, including our guests."

"Our outdoor ceremony setting, with its stunning castle backdrop, beautiful gardens, and floral displays, was a particularly meaningful and memorable detail of the day."

"Focus on what makes you both happy and do what you want as it’s your special day. Stay organised to minimise stress, and keep in mind that it is what it is, and everything will work out. Enjoy every moment, as time really flies. It will truly be the best day of your life!"

Why did you choose River Court Hotel for your wedding?

We chose River Court Hotel because of its beautiful, warm, and welcoming atmosphere with unbeatable packages. From the moment we visited the wedding showcase, we could picture our day there. The team made everything feel easy and stress-free. The location itself felt special and intimate to us.

What were your favourite moments from the day?

There were so many, but a few standouts were where the manager worked with myself and my bridesmaids closely to the last minute, he calmed us down and genuinely cared for every moment. Secondly, the wonderful outdoor ceremony and walking down the aisle, seeing each other for the first time, and the incredible energy and atmosphere during our speeches. The River Court team were always one step ahead and had prepared everything we asked for including few of our ceremonial traditions like vodka Vs water and breaking the plate for good luck. The dance floor later in the evening was also unforgettable as everyone just let loose and celebrated with us which is an amazing sign of enjoyment. 

How did you find the ceremony, reception, food and overall experience?

Everything exceeded our expectations. The ceremony felt personal and meaningful, the reception flowed perfectly, and the food was absolutely amazing! So many guests commented on how good it was. Overall, the experience was seamless, and we genuinely felt looked after the entire day. We were relaxed and stress-free knowing everything was looked after and cared for. 

Were there any funny, emotional or memorable moments that stand out?

There were definitely a few emotional moments during the speeches that we’ll never forget, especially when I blew baby powder from my vows book that looked like cocaine all over my mother's bag and the ground later . On the lighter side, there were some hilarious dance floor moments and a few unexpected moves from guests when our surprise guest (Scruffy Duffy) started to rock the night away that kept everyone laughing and our band (the Waxies) which has given our international guest an Unforgettable experience. 

Any special details, décor choices or personal touches you’d like to mention?

We tried to include personal touches throughout the day, from customised signage to small details that reflected our personalities and River Court were more than accommodating to ensure we have everything perfect. It was important to us that the day felt like “us,” and those little details really helped bring everything together. Our guest said they have never been to a wedding that was so personal and intimate and that was our goal.

 "Try to enjoy the process and not stress over the small things. Everything comes together on the day and Trust the staff at River Court, they will ensure your day goes perfectly smooth. Trust your suppliers and don’t be afraid to ask for help. Most importantly, take time during the day to pause and soak it all in together."
