Kilkenny has always been renowned for its arts and culture scene and Kilkenny Cat Walk Trail is the newest welcome addition to the city.
A wonderful collection of 21 individual cats, created by Irish artists, occupy various locations around the city. Each one is unique but collectively it's a unique new Kilkenny experience. Many of the cats can be experienced in outdoor settings too, ideal during Covid times. Follow the trail and see some of Kilkenny city that may not be familiar to you, but all are within easy reach of the hotel.
The familiar sculpture design of each cat is based on Pangur Ban from The Secret of Kells film, which was made by Kilkenny based Cartoon Saloon. Some of the cats to look out for are our very own Where I Swim which is happily installed on our Terrace watching the ducks float by, a black and amber Kilkenny Cat based at MacDonagh Junction, Catfish at St Canice's Cathedral, Copper Cat at Butler Gallery, and Pangur a Lan at Kilkenny Castle Park.
